Censorship can be dangerous, I'll tell you why
Hey readers, I'm hope that you're glad to hear from me. Before you turn the page because you think this topic is boring, please just give me 2 minutes of your time. So I just wanted to add my angle/view on censorship. Firstly, what do I define as censorship and because I'm not always good at explaining ideas without examples, please allow me to use examples at it relates to my life.
Firstly, I am accustomed to hearing the older generation saying that there's too much sexual or violent scenes in movies (whether it just stirs your imagination or perhaps show "everything") I sometimes disagree with them in terms of completely banning such content and I'll tell you my twist to my logic.
I remember hearing about a country that banned alcohol. What happened was very simple. People began buying more alcohol. Why? Well perhaps its because when you ban something, you may just be forming a taboo for it. Some people actually like to break the law.... why? Maybe because its challenging or they like a thrill - I'm not too sure why but these are my guesses.
So let's come back to the topic, censorship. Let's just saw we ban all the violent content or sexual content. Will this help us? Well... technically, yes and no. Yes in the sense that maybe minors won't be able to buy certain movies but no in the sense that even curious minors well probably get their hands on some content they aren't suppose to see because someone will sell it to them or bring it to them and worst of all, for a more expensive price. Not to mention, there's always the internet......... need I say more.
Not to mention, inquisitive minds will always ask questions right? Some people also have the predisposition of knowing that there is more out there. I will quote my own saying "Trying to block the world from seeing reality is only trying to fool oneself".
Blocking the content on TV simply won't help if society still shows violence out on the streets. Blocking sexual content from minors doesn't mean that they won't see irresponsible adults showing some form of sexual misconduct in public.
So, before we look at censorship, maybe its best that we look at human nature and above all, changing our levels of morality and behaviour in public.
Just some of my thoughts
Have a great day you guys!
