The difference between pessimistic and realistic?

I think this is a good topic to write about. Why? Many of my friends say that I am pessimistic. According to one of my favourite websites, wikipedia.org, pessimistic is a state of mind which negatively colors the perception of life. Sounds like me right? Possibly so, but is it really pessimistic or is it in fact, true what I say - realistic?

We were brought up to believe that we would become the best but are we really the best? The best by some informal implied definition interpreted by my brain means that one person is going to be at the top and the others will be lower down. So the chances of being the best is really a 1 in something chance. Since there's around 8 billion people in the world all with talents and abilities, most of which I could be amazed about, we are not islands. In the end, truth of the matter perhaps even factual is that one person might be the best but others won't. That's realistic.

Being a part of life means becoming closer to death. I know you know what I mean but how far do you think about it? It is definitely true that life is a journey and we must learn from the journey perhaps helping each other along the way. At the end of the day, when its time to say good bye to this world, where does all that attained knowledge go? After the actual death, is there some fact that leads us to the conclusion that this knowledge has been kept and not wasted - no... so is this being pessimistic? No. That's realistic. So for the idiots who called me a "idiot", a "fat boy" and a "jackass"... can you prove to me that what I am saying is wrong. No really... THINK and then read on.

In life, there are times when we will attain happiness just as we will also be sad at times. If we are happy for the early years in our life, does that guarantee happiness in our later years? Rule of thumb, if you fly now, it doesn't mean you'll fly later. In fact, if life is being really good to you, its inevitable that at some point in time, life will be bad to you. Pessimistic right? No, that's realistic.

I've been learning a lot lately from some people but I have to be careful how I say it, even on my blog - I still don't have the freedom of speech that I would like to have. People try to change people for many reasons and some people will try to change you when they are afraid of who you are or can't accept you for you. You might say "oh please, no one can do me that", well I'd love to prove you wrong and I most likely can but obviously I cannot say it here in fear that I may be somehow targeted and made an example of. Pessimistic you say? No, that's realistic.

Will you ever tell a lie? Yes (not even a second elapsed for me to think about that one... this is too easy). Can you really place your life in the hands of another knowing that they will succeed? No, because we all fail at some point in our lives. Pessimistic? No....That's realistic.
