Facebook, how it affects our daily lives - Part 1

This is a well overdue article in which I will attempt to open the eyes of my readers towards facebook. Firstly, I am not here to tell you whether you should or should not use facebook - this is purely up to your decision but I will attempt to show you as much pros and cons, the positive and the negative impacts that facebook has on the life of a technologist as well as the average person that will use facebook.

A Technologist perspective (perhaps we call call this MY PERSPECTIVE)
1. Ever noticed how much groups are being created on facebook to represent websites that already exist on the internet? Because of the vast size of users, more people are in someway being urged to use facebook because it has probably the largest digital database of users on the planet - probably good I suppose. However, what people don't realise is that by making a group page, you are essentially and freely advertising facebook thereby making them an even larger force to reckon with. Thus, while you use hits to your website, facebook's website gains hits which they can turn over by making revenue via advertising and other features. In some cases, if you link back to your website, you may get more hits, but don't count on it all the time.

2. What happens to your user based website? What happens to the websites of many? Facebook can be your greatest weapon and also your greatest down fall. It may not be the fault of the owners of Facebook but its very possible that alternative social networking sites will not be able to compete and / or grow thereby Facebook may indirectly causing other websites to fail to thrive. One step ahead, worst scenario, what if Facebook fails to load for 1 hour? ....
